Evangel Heights Christian Academy

        Daily Prayer Guide

Praying not only affects us, it also reaches out and touches those for whom we pray. When we pray for our children, we are asking God to make His presence a part of their lives and work powerfully on their behalf. Our prayers are never lost or meaningless. If we are praying, something is happening, whether we can see it or not.

Stormie Omartian "The Power of a Praying Parent"

Dear E.H.C.A. parents:

E.M. Bounds writes, “God shaped the world by prayer. The more praying there is in the world, the better the world will be.”

Our dear children are part of this world.  As a PTG, we are committed this school year to you and your child, to our school board, to our teachers and administrators, to Evangel Heights Church and to our community. We want to make our world a better place through prayer.

Using the umbrella as our symbol, we see that we are under God’s covering and supported by Jesus Christ. It is our prayer that you will use this booklet as a guide each day.

We hold the key.  May God be with us as we unlock the door to a better world for our children.

                                               Prayerfully,

                                               The PTG

Day 1

Lord, I pray that You will bring godly friends and role models into (name’s) life.  Give him/her the wisdom to choose friends carefully, for the way of the wicked will lead them astray. Take away loneliness and low self-esteem that would cause them to seek less than godly friends.  Take anyone of out (name’s) life who is not a godly influence, so that he/she will not learn that person’s way and set a snare for him/her own soul.  May (name) walk with the wise and not be a companion to a fool. Teach him/her the meaning of true friendship that he/she would know how to be a good friend.  May each of (name’s) friendships always glorify You.

Day 2

Lord, I thank You for the promise that our children will be taught of the Lord. May (name) apply his/her heart to instruction, that he/she would have a teachable spirit, desiring to attain knowledge. Let (name) know that knowledge begins with a reverence for You and Your ways.  May (name) never be a fool and turn from learning. I pray that he/she will respect the wisdom of parents, teachers and those in authority.  Give (name) the knowledge and skill needed in learning and in wisdom. Make the pathways of learning smooth that there would be a clarity of thought, organization, and a good memory.  Help (name) be motivated to do his/her best for Your glory.  May he/she also have a thankful heart for his/her teachers and school.

Day 3

Lord, I pray for spiritual, emotional, and physical health for (name). Your word exhorts us not to forget any of your benefits. You forgive all of our iniquities and heal all our diseases. Show (name) how to properly care for his/her body.  Help him/her understand that it is not his/hers alone, and that their bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. May (name) prosper and be in good health, even as his/her soul prospers. I pray that he/she will look to You for healing needs.

Day 4

Lord, we live in a society where the tendency is to want more, more, more. Whether that dissatisfaction stems from physical or emotional needs, help (name) to be content with everything, whether little or much, and in good times as well as in bad.

Day 5

Lord, I come to you in Jesus’ name and give (name of child) to You. I’m convinced that You alone know what is best for him/her. You alone know what he/she needs. I release him/her to You to care for and protect, and I commit myself to pray for everything concerning him/her that I can think of or that You put upon my heart.  Teach me how to pray and guide me in what to pray about. Help me not to impose my own will when I’m praying for (name), but rather enable me to pray that Your will be done in his/her life.

Day 6

Lord, I lift (name) up to YOU and ask that You would put a hedge of protection around him/her. Protect her/his spirit, body, mind and emotions from evil or harm.  I pray specifically for protection from accidents, disease, injury, or any other physical, mental or emotional abuse. Hide him/her from any kind of evil influences that would harm him/her. Keep him/her safe from any hidden dangers.

Day 7

Lord, I pray that You would give (name) a heart that desires to obey You. Put into him/her a longing to spend time with You, in Your word and in prayer, listening for Your voice.  Shine Your light upon any secret or unseen rebellion that is taking root in his/her heart, so that it can be identified and destroyed. Lord, I pray that he/she will not give himself over to pride, selfishness, and rebellion, but that he/she will be delivered from it.

Day 8

Lord, help (name) to remember that he/she can do everything through You as You give him/her strength, but he/she can do nothing without You.  Let (name) never grow confident in his/her own abilities, but certain in Yours. Help him/her apply confidence in You to his schoolwork, relationships, difficulties and temptations.  Help (name) to find You faithful, even when I’m not around.

Day 9

Lord, I pray for (name) today, asking You to impart fortitude to his/her character.  Give him/her the grace to keep on fighting the good fight of faith throughout (name’s) life.  Whenever he/she is reviled, give him/her the grace to endure with fortitude.  May (name) be strong in You at all times, ever learning of the power of Your might in each difficult circumstance. Let (name) not grow weary in doing good, but give him/her the strength to endure as a good soldier, holding fast to his faith without waivering.

Day 10

Lord, I pray that (name’s) heart would understand spiritual matters. Let his/her mind be set on things above, not the things of this earth. Give (name) the desire for spiritual things, rather than temporal things. Give (name) a new spiritual awareness, so that he/she may know that our struggle is not against flesh and blood. May Your spirit and His control be preeminent in (name’s) life and may He guide, direct and control (name) in all his/her ways.

Day 11

Lord, help (name) always realize that he/she should be about Your business—even when faced with problems of his/her own.  Let encouraging words and kind acts be part of his/her everyday interactions with other people.  Let him/her always offer to others the hope of Christ that You offer him/her.

Day 12

Lord, I pray that (name’s) heart will love truth and reject all lies from the devil, who is the “father of lies.” Cause him/her to comprehend the seriousness of knowing that lies separate us from Your presence. I pray (name) will not be deceived or blinded in his/her mind, but that he/she will have a clear understanding of Your truth. Thank You for Your promise that You will lead us into the truth, thus exposing the lies. May (name) align himself/herself with You, following the spirit of truth, and being a person of integry.

Day 13

Lord, keep (name) free from any addictions, especially to drugs and alcohol. Make him/her strong in You and help them to put You first and in control of their life, I pray (name) would understand the difference between life and death, blessing and curse, when they are set before him/her. May he/she clearly see the truth whenever tempted, and be delivered from evil when in the midst of temptation. Minister to him/her the strength to say “no” to things that bring death, and “yes” to things of God that bring life.

Day 14

Lord, I pray that you would increase the quality of faith that resides in (name’s) heart.  Take the measure that you would have given him/her and multiply it. May the truth of Your word be firmly established in (name’s) heart so that their faith will grow daily. Let (name’s) faith enable him/her to trust you and all times, not seeing their own limitations, but rather knowing that ALL things are possible with You. Cause (name) to grow in Your faith daily as they seek to walk with You and know You.

Day 15

Lord, I pray that (name) has a solid commitment and conversion. Let him/her be assured that he/she is a new creature in Christ, and that he/she is being changed by the work of the Holy Spirit into his image.  Help him/her to comprehend the fullness of Your forgiveness, so that he/she will not live in guilt or condemnation.  Stir the desire to be involved in spiritual things, including church, Sunday School and christian service. May (name) walk in a manner worthy of You, working out his/her own salvation, bearing much fruit for you, and learning of Your ways.  May (name) grow to be confident in his/her salvation, and their eternal future with You.

Day 16

Lord, I pray that (name) will honor and obey us, his parents, and any authorities that God has established over him/her. Help him/her to understand that teachers are appointed by God, bearing His authority for their good. Cause them not to rebel against that authority but instead to receive instruction with humility. Shine Your light upon him/her and reveal any secret or unseen rebellion.  May he/she know the joy of walking with You, having a humble spirit or obedience and submission in all they do. Give him/her a vision for life when setting goals for the future, and a sense of purpose about what You have called her/her to do.  Let (name) not fall into the trap of comparing themselves with others, but cause them to know that he/she is uniquely created by God.

Day 17

Lord, I want to thank You for the gifts and talents You have placed in (name).  I pray that You would develop them in him/her and use them for Your glory.  Make them apparent to me and to him/her, and show me specifically if there is any special nurturing, training, learning experience or opportunities I should provide for (name). May his/her gifts and talents be developed in Your way and in Your time.

Day 18

Lord, I pray that (name) will use speech that glorifies You. Fill his/her heart with Your Spirit and Your truth so that what overflows from his/her mouth will be words of life and not death. Put a monitor over his/her mouth so that every temptation to use profane, negative, cruel, hurtful, uncaring, unloving and compassionless language is offensive to him/her. Help (name) hear himself/herself so that words don’t come out carelessly or thoughtlessly.

Day 19

Lord, I pray that you keep (name) sexually pure all of his/her life.  Give him/her a heart that wants to do what’s right in this area, and let purity take root in his/her personality and guide his/her actions.  Help him/her to always lay down godly rules for relationships and resist anything that is not Your best. May Your grace enable him/her to stay pure so that he/she will receive Your crown of life.

Day 20

Lord, I pray that (name) will forgive himself/herself for times of failure and may he/she never blame You, Lord, for things that happen on this earth and in his/her life. According to Your word, I pray that he/she will love his/her enemies, bless those who curse him/her, do good to those who hate him/her, and pray for those who spitefully use and persecute him/her, so that he/she may enjoy all Your blessings.

Day 21

Lord, I pray that You would give (name) a heart that is quick to confess his/her mistakes. May he/she be truly repentant of them so that he/she can be forgiven and cleansed. Help him/her to understand that Your laws are for his/her benefit and that the confession and repentance You require must become a way of life.  May he/she not live in guilt and condemnation, but rather dwell with a clear conscience in the full understanding of his/her forgiveness in Christ.

Day 22

Lord, I pray that (name) will know that You have chosen him/her and you love him/her with an everlasting love.  Let (name) know that nothing can separate him/her from Your love. May he/she also feel love and acceptance from family members, peers, and others that surround him.  Deliver him/her from the lies of rejection from the enemy, that he/she will not dwell on his/her own shortcomings.  Help (name) to grow in confidence by establishing his/her heart in You. Show Your love to (name) today in a personal way.

Day 23

Lord, I thank You for the promise of a sound mind for (name). I pray that his/her mind will be clear, alert, stable and peaceful. I pray that his/her mind will not be confused, but give him/her the ability to make clear decisions. Help (name) to understand all he/she needs to know, and be able to focus on what he/she needs to do today.  May he/she have the mind of Christ, taking every thought captive. Let his/her mind dwell on whatever things are true, noble, just, pure, lovely and whatever things are of a good report, and anything that is praiseworthy.

Day 24

Lord, I pray that you would put a hedge of protection around (name).  Protect his/her spirit, soul, body, and emotions evil or harm. I thank You for being his/her refuge and deliverer, that no evil shall befall him/her.  Thank You also for giving Your angels charge over (name). Help him/her to learn to trust You personally in times of trouble.  Lead him/her to find safety in the protective tower of Your name, that he/she will have a testimony to Your goodness.

Day 25

Lord, I pray that (name) will be free from worry and anxiety. Teach him/her to cast his/her care upon You, because You care for him/her. I pray that (name) will learn to trust You in every circumstance of his/her life.  Let (name) be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and thanksgiving, (name) will let his/her requests known to You, so that he/she will have Your peace, the peace that passes all understanding. Give him/her the assurance that You will work all things together for the good of those who love and follow after You. Show him/her that You will supply all of his/her needs as he/she trusts You and Your promises.

Day 26

Lord, I pray that (name) would not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of his/her mind. Help (name) not to love the world or the things of this world, but instead to focus on the eternal things, the things in Your kingdom and its righteousness. May (name) choose to seek Your kingdom first. Show him/her how to set his/her mind on the things of above, not on the things of this world.  Strengthen him/her by Your Holy Spirit to resist the pulls of this world, the pride of life, the lust of the eyes, and the lusts of the flesh. Let (name) know the truth about the world and it’s ways, and choose to live a godly life.

Day 27

Lord, I thank You that You have not given (name) a spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind.  Deliver (name) from any fear that threatens to overtake him/her.  Give (name) the confidence to know that he/she has the power to overcome fears through You.  Replace those fears with the knowledge of Your love for him/her.  Help him/her not to deny his/her fears, but to take them to You in prayer and seek deliverance from them. Empower (name) with Your spirit so that he/she will neither fear nor be discouraged, because of the knowledge that You are with him/her.

Day 28

Lord, help (name) to be among those who dare to show initiative in his/her work for You.  Help him/her to choose to be different.  Set (name’s) eyes on the city out there whose builder and maker is God. Help him/her focus on eternal things and think creative, eternal thoughts.

Day 29

Lord, help (name) get wisdom and understanding. Don’t let him/her forget Your words or swerve from them. Hide them in his/her heart so he/she won’t sin against you. Grant (name) wisdom to avoid bad and surround himself/herself with people and things that are good. Give him/her the wisdom to put to work, in productive and healthy ways, the knowledge he/she has gained.

Day 30

Lord, help (name) realize that You designed difficulties to draw him to Yourself.  Bring back to (name’s) mind the things he/she has learned, and assist him/her in applying them to the hard experiences that lie ahead. Help (name) personalize his faith to You.

Day 31

Lord, help (name) take pride in himself/herself without comparing himself/herself to others. Help her/him carry his/her own load without blaming others for his/her actions.  Help me to hold myself accountable to others, and help me always to realize the consequences of my choices. Then help me pass on this information to my children.
